Celebrate Oktoberfest Munich

Oktoberfest is a great seasonal experience gift!

If you enjoy German food and you want to have some fun, why not have your very own Oktoberfest Munich part, with all your friends and family around to enjoy it with you.

"Even if you are not German, and you do not even know what a dirndl or a lederhosen is, you can still have one of these great parties. All you need is a liking for drinking beer and a love for delicious food"

Fact or fairy tale?

Believe it or not, the origins of Oktoberfest started back in Bavaria in the year 1810. They way it got started was that the crown prince met a lovely woman and promised her that for their wedding celebration they would have the most splendid horse race ever.

So, the kin set up a wedding that lasted for 16 days, full of beer and partying. The citizens love this idea so much that they decided to keep repeating this beer laden celebration every single year, which is how this festival first got started.

Celebrated in many parts of the world

Not only is Oktoberfest celebrated in Germany, but many other places around the world celebrate it as well. These festivals are known for their beer, tasty food, wonderful music, and a great deal of fun.

In Munich, large tents are set up in the Theresienwiese meadow, and the festivities are held there. The fun party all begins when the mayor taps the first keg of beer at Oktoberfest in a very interesting ceremony. So, with all this fun being celebrated around the world, why not try to have a fete of your own?

Oktoberfest Munich starts in mid september

While more than likely you have heard that Oktoberfest Munich is celebrated in the month of October, in Germany people actually begin to celebrate all the way in September. So, basically you can enjoy an Oktoberfest party anytime you want to.

Setting the Stage and Activities

All you will need is a tent with benches and tables, or even just set up the benches and tables in the open air in your back yard, and just hope that the weather is nice.

You can have the men that attend wear some suspenders and have the women wear aprons that are white. You will also want to be sure that you get either a couple kegs of German beer, or some bottled German beers for the party too.

The Food for a Oktoberfest Party

The food you serve at your party should be German, and make sure that you make plenty. Very typical would be to offer german wurst (even better weisswurst) which is usually served with a great German Potato Salad

Music and Chicken Dance

You may also want to get a band that will play some German music, or if a band is too expensive, you can purchase some CD’s of traditional German music for your party. For some extra fun, hand out kazoos so your guests can play along as well. After everyone has had a few beers, then it is time for the Chicken Dance.

Beverages for Oktoberfest Munich

The beer that you serve should be served up in german beer steins. These will come in handy after the dancing is over for some beer stein races.
You can load up the guests with beer steins that are full of beer, and then have them race to the finish line. The winner of this game is the person who crosses with the most beer left in their beer stein, and then for winning, they can chug back that beer.
