Jil Sander Clothing

Is Jil Sander Clothing something for you? Are you are a modern, self-confident women looking for subtlety and elegance in your appearence. Then you have found the right place. Look here behind the curtain of the famous german Designer Jil Sander and what makes up her sophisticated style.

Simple Lines compared to Bauhaus

The Golden Twenties architecture from Bauhaus has parallels to the Jil Sander Clothing designs. This fact in mind - Jil Sander with her willful character - often explained why she insists on a highly ambitious selection in fabric and a cut with simple lines.

Why not make a Jil Sander bargain at ebay?

women who prefer a distinguished and fitting look

From almost the beginning, Jil Sander's collection offered mostly basics, so that clothes could be mixed freely. The special fabrics, colors and shapes she chooses is made for women who love a fitting and distinguished style for whatever situation. These self-confident and modern women prefer elegance and subtlety in their outfit. Thus, the Jil Sander clothing uses print sparcely, avoids loud colors and is defensive concerning accessories.

First Jil Sander Collection in 1973

The Fashion Designer Jil Sander was born under Heidemarie Jiline Sander in 1943 in the north of Germany. She graduated from textile engineering school and after some years in the US, she started working for magazines as fashion editor in 1963. Her first store she launched in 1968, in Hamburg. In this time she made a collection for Hoechst (chemical company) utilising their Trevira material. In 1973 her own first collection came in the market, of course with the Jil Sander label.

The good old times

Until 2004 Jil Sander managed almost everything of her undertaking alone. She was the most important part in the development of the design. She selected the fabrics, and managed almost every process ending in the quality supervision of the end products. Jilline also surveyed that the Jil Sander clothes were marketed tightly. She planned the concept of her boutiques very detailed - this fact was even worth a press release. There were strict guidelines for the appearence of the stuff and also the position of the sales represants in the store was determined.

Diffferent Licensed Jil Sander Products

Besides Jil Sander Clothing and shoes there exist also licensed products. These items include Jil Sander Leather, Jil Sander Eyewear and JS Cosmetics. Jil Sander is planning also new items to be licensed, like ties, underwear and socks.

On-again offf-again relationship with Prada

In 1999 the Jil Sander fashion company became a subsidiary of the famous fashion house Prada. It was a very "nervous" relationship. Designer Jil Sander herself left the company some months after selling it to Prada in 2000. There very many rumours that she couldn't work with the chief Bertelli. She came back in May 2003 with much fanfare, only to go away again in November 2005, mabe for the same reason.

The new Jil Sander

Since July 1, 2005 Belgian star designer Raf Simons has taken over as creative director. The Prada-owned company stated that Simons is responsible for the womens' and menswear collections, beginning with the autumn/winter 2006-7 collection that was shown in Milan in February 2006. After graduating in industrial design Simons started his career as a furniture designer for private interiors and galleries. It's taken for sure that he will give great continuity in the deisgn that has highlighted the Jil Sander brand worldwide.
