Usual replys to Danke

The usual reply to the 8 german thank you options is:

Bitte - You're welcome!(in response to "Danke!) or Bitteschön

orGern geschehen! or Nichts zu danken!

Nicht der Rede Wert or Keine Ursache


these are all expressions in the sense of Don't mention it! You're welcome!

Some other handy German phrases with "Dank" in them

Ich bedanke mich! I thank you!

Dank an - means 'thanks to'

Danke im voraus means thank you in advance...

Danke nochmals which means 'thank you again'

Jemanden für etwas danken means to give thanks to somebody for something.

zu danken means to thank.

das Dankschreiben thank-you letter/note

Ein herzliches Dankeschön! Our/my heartfelt thanks!



Special Tip:

If you respond "Danke!" to an offer, some german will it understand as "no thanks." To express "thanks, yes" prefer "Bitte!"
