Just choose the correct English phrase and the loudspeaker on the PhraseBook will speak the German phrase aloud letting the person know what is needed or wanted.
The PhraseBook is also a calendar, phone and address book, date book, and memo book that has voice reminders of schedules and appointments. This gadget has an on screen virtual keyboard and a touch sensitive handwriting display. There is even a flash card game to learn German words.
ECTACO Partner EGm800 - English <-> German Talking Electronic Dictionary and Audio PhraseBook
This electronic PhraseBook is not one of those that are easily portable. It weight seven (7) pounds. However, it is great for helping to learn the language. The display is not just one of the basic text displays in blacks and grays like many of the portable versions. It is a full color display. The vocabulary base is over one million words. Both German and English can be spoken with the voice technology. Translation and reverse translation work on this machine.
There's also English speech recognition so a user can speak to the PhraseBook instead of typing and a translation can be found. The voice recognition can fine tune to a user's voice making the PhraseBook able to understand the words that are said.
5 Language European Translator by Franklin Electronics
This translator has German as well as French, Italian, and Spanish. It is a simple little translator that has over 5,000 commonly used phrases sorted by category. It easily fits in a single hand.
