Doennhoff Wines

Helmut Doennhoff is known as one of the finest wine makers in Germany. Year after year he produces brilliant and well regarded wines. The wine grows on very steep vineyards on the Nahe river -in the village of Oberhausen. Read here if this could be the perfect gift for your recipient.

Excellent Value for an affordable Price: The estate Riesling

The Praedikat wines are highly allocated and much sought-after. They are hard to find and also a little more expensive. The estate Riesling gives you for an affordable price an excellent value with a great taste of the Doennhoff magic.

An Overview

Since 1971 Helmut has been producing the wine. As a traditionalist he vinifies his "precious drops" in large oak casks. Find here a small sample of his best wines:

- 2003 Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett, Dönnhoff
Excellent richness, satin-textured and deep, it sports a strong underlying minerality and a gorgeously extended finish.

- 2002 Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett, Dönnhoff
intense, harmonious, deep, concentrated, of powerful purity and length.

- 2001 Dönnhoff Riesling Kabinett Oberhauser Leistenberg Nahe
Extreme concentration of flavour. Intense, complex and rich. Moderate acidity with a lemony, spicy nuance to the palate, combined with some minerality. A little sweet.

- 2001 Dönnhoff Riesling Spätlese Schlossbockelheimer Kupfergrube
Increased minerally edge to the nose. Powerful concentration on the palate with minerally edge and moderate acidity, limey, fresh and sweet.
